Subclass 500
Student visa
It is a temporary visa that allows students to study for up to five years. Primary school children enrolled in years 1-4 will generally be granted a student visa for a maximum period of three years, depending on the type and length of the course.
Most applications will normally take around 4 weeks to complete. If you obtain the student visa, you can enter Australia between that of a 90 to day to the start of your classes. In Australia, you will need to inform your education provider of your residential address.
Subclass 485
Temporary Graduate visa
Students with skills and qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations Australia needs can apply for this visa to live, study, and work temporarily in Australia. 485 visas are valid for 18 months from the date of grant. Family members can join you in Australia on 485 visas if you already hold a 485 visa.

Subclass 600
Visitor visa
This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to visit family and friends, or for other purposes other than business or medical treatment.
It is suitable for the following purposes:
- Holiday or recreation
- Visit family and/or friends
- Other short-term non-work purposes
It is possible to get a visa for up to 10 years. You can stay up to 3 months each time you enter. Visa processing time is determined by the age of applications finalized in a given period. Many of the applications finalized recently had been on hand for some months during the border closure.
Subclass 408
Temporary activity visa
The temporary activity visa allows you to observe or participate in a research project at a research or tertiary institution in Australia. You and your family who apply for the visa with you are allowed to stay here for up to 2 years. It is possible for the applicant to stay in Australia for a period of up to two years.
You will be able to stay for an additional 12 months if you are employed in a critical sector (food, agriculture, tourism, hospitality, etc.).
